Scott Arnold is a multiple-time National Champion and Olympic athlete (1992) in fencing, as well as an Olympic coach (2000, 2012, 2016), notably coaching Chloe Esposito to a Gold Medal in Modern Pentathlon at the Rio 2016 Olympics. Since 1997, he has been dedicated to coaching young and emerging athletes, and he holds accreditation with both the New South Wales Fencing Association and the Australian Fencing Federation. In 2022, Scott completed the AIS Elevated Coaching Program. His fencing career, largely self-funded, took him from his home on the Gold Coast to Melbourne and then overseas to the UK, France, Hungary, and Korea to train and compete on World Cup circuits, ultimately achieving a top-32 world ranking and selection for the 1992 Olympics. His journey, which began in a small club on the Gold Coast in the 1980s, has been enriched by many great coaches and global fencing friendships. Scott and his wife Julie, who also competed at State, National, and Commonwealth levels, have settled in Coffs Harbour from Melbourne and opened the Duellist Fencing Club.
