Visit Still Salon in centre

View works from 35 local artists at Coffs Central until 2nd November

We’re thrilled to welcome the Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery (CHRG) to Coffs Central this month as they pop up with a special edition of the Still: National Still Life Award, called the Still Salon. The exhibition features work from over 30 local artists living between Byron Bay and Port Macquarie and focuses on the genre of still life.

The Still Award is a biennial, acquisitive award for artworks in the genre of still life, in all media. The award is open to artists at all stages of their careers and seeks to highlight the diversity and vitality of still life in Australian contemporary art practice by broadening the interpretation and meaning of the enduring genre. The Still Salon exhibition first started in 2017 as a way for CHRG to highlight the talent of entries across the Mid North and North Coast of NSW.

The Still Salon exhibition was officially opened on Saturday 19th October at Coffs Central by Coffs Harbour Mayor, Denise Knight, with speeches from CHRG’s Co-ordinator, Catherine Fogarty and Coffs Central’s Marketing Manager, Gia Crowhurst. The opening was well attended with over 200 guests, including MP Gurmesh Singh, who came out to support the local community and arts.

While visiting the exhibition you can vote for your favourite artwork for the People’s Choice award. The winner will receive a $2,000 grant from CHRG toward their art practice.
